Funformobile Review

What Year Is It Today? No I’m not kidding. No, I haven’t watched “Back to the future“too much. I have just found the site funformobile.com. And after visiting it I instinctively looked down to see the date. It’s still the year 2011 but the authors of funformobile.com try to keep all how it was 10 years ago.

Site provides:

Design
We usually are not talking about technical part of the site. But here it is such a rare case then we must do it. It is difficult to explain how funny the whole design looks. Much easier is to say that all the CSS descriptions and rules are kept in html file. There are many such features but we don’t want provide all of them it will be boring, for people who have no idea about Web-design. Just come, press ctrl+u and check it yourself.
Tones
They are not called ringtones or tunes. No, they are still tones. You will be impressed but most featured tunes are uploaded in 2006. And the site is still working. You thought they are midi, no they are mp3. But usually about 50- 70 Kb big. We will not right about bitrate of such ringtones.
Wallpapers
Most of them are made in resolution 176 x 220. Can you imagine a new Iphone4g with such a wallpaper. I can’t but still authors provide “new and modern” mobile content, at least so is written in their tags. And again gif animation of background, be attentive it can be dangerous for your eyes.
Chatrooms
There are some hundreds people and they arguing there. You can log in and your photo will be shown. Actually these are all advantages of that site. But we thought, that nobody is visiting such places or speaking in such rooms. Bu we were wrong hundreds of people were talking about Wallpapers and Xbox, finding the love and selling the car. And this was at 5 a.m. What about Twitter or Facebook? Who are this people sitting in chartrooms of funformobile.com. Maybe they are guests from the past? Or maybe they don’t know that Twitter exists ? I have not asked them, may be you should this.
Jokes
This is the strongest and most interesting part of the site. You can read thousand of jokes provided by site authors and registered users. Most of them are really funny. And you can comment them from your mobile phone or just from the site.

Site drawbacks:

Design
old-stylish design with plenty of advertisement. Actually you get more advertisement content than real site content. In some browser like Opera, Firefox design falls apart.
Advertisement
It is one the left and on the right side up and down. If you click somewhere you get even more advertisement. Awful.
navigation drawbacks
All the materials on the main page are put together. Yes you have a separate menu to navigate but still it does not help a lot. Poor navigation mark.
Applications
No application at all.
languages
the only languages supported is English.

Site summary and verdict:

Horrible design, plenty of ads no clear navigation and many, many other drawbacks. It’s clear that site author don’t pay much time to this project. But according to the amount of advertisement they want to get money from this site. Interesting fact is that in the footer we have found “Copyright © 2004-2007”. Who was managing the site last 4 years? Maybe, Users? Honestly saying looks like nobody. There are many old sites and web project using old design. In some cases you even get the nostalgic fillings. Here it’s really different. After 5-7 minutes you probably will never come back. This authors fault, they could just delete at least the half of advertisement and upload new content. But at this moment with exception of joke you have nothing to be interested in.

Our verdict-probably the worst site with mobile content.
